Audio description<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Casentinesi Forests, Monte Falterona, and Campigna National Park, established in 1993, stretches across a vast area between Tuscany and Romagna. Among its most famous visitors was Dante, who, struck by the beauty of the Acquacheta waterfall, celebrated it in the 16th canto of Inferno:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “Like that river which has its course<\/p>\n <\/p>\n first from Monte Viso towards the east,<\/p>\n <\/p>\n from the left slope of the Apennines, called Acquacheta above, before it falls down into the low bed…”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n It is one of the most prized forested areas in Europe. Within the park lies the Sasso Fratino Integral Natural Reserve, established in 1959, as well as two sites of great spiritual and historical importance: the Camaldoli Hermitage, founded in 1012 by Saint Romuald, and the Sanctuary of La Verna, built on the mountain gifted to Saint Francis in 1213 as a place of hermitage.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The true protagonists of the park, however, are its flora and fauna. At the Premilcuore Visitor Center, you can not only gather information about the park\u2019s trails and territory but also explore the themes of wildlife and water through informative panels, taxidermy animals, and multimedia displays.
