Sorto in un punto nevralgico dell\u2019antica Strada Fiorentina, croll\u00f2 nella met\u00e0 del XVI secolo e venne ricostruito nelle attuali forme solo alla met\u00e0 del 1600; nei primi anni del 1700 gli fu addossata una gualchiera, un opificio per la lavorazione dei tessuti, e un mulino.
